Saturday, August 21:
Today I took a tour to an area several miles outside of Buenos Aries called Tigre. We first took a bus out of town and boarded the Train de la Costa, and rode it to San Isidro. We left the train in San Isidro and had an hour to explore the beautiful cathedral and the market set up in the square. It was a prefect time to enjoy an expresso. From there we reboarded the bus and drove to Tigre. Tigre is up river and has a whole community built on the many islands that are only accessible by boat. There is a series of canals that are used for this. In Tigre the tour took a boat ride and we got to see a lot of the waterfront. On our return to Buenos Aries, I was dropped off at Puerto Madero, which had some beautiful new buildings and also has a series of old waterfront warehouse buildings that have been renovated and converted to retail, restaurants and apartments. I had a light lunch there, and enjoyed strolling along the waterway. From there I walked back to the hotel, and plan an early night as my next adventure for Colonia, Uruguay leave tomorrow at 7:30AM.
